About

Penny is a Melbourne born, London dwelling, author and non-fiction writing coach.  After 15 years as a freelance interiors photographer, Penny began writing about life as a single parent and unpaid carer whilst juggling a freelance creative career. She has written for Red Magazine, iPaper, BBC Radio 4 and The Telegraph. Penny’s first book Tender was published by Coronet Books in 2020. Her short story Missing Things was runner up in the Harper’s Bazaar Short Story Prize 2022. Her next non-fiction book Home Matters will be published in August 2024. Penny has a MA in Creative and Life Writing with Distinction from Goldsmiths.

As a certitified writing coach she specialises in helping writers put stand-out non-fiction book proposals together (a process she finds deeply satisfying!). She also hosts the podcast Not Too Busy To Write which was a finalist in the 2023 Independent Podcast Awards.

Penny lives in South London with her two children and a very fluffy cat called Winter.
